Jessica Simpson has embraced Indian fashion.

The 29-year-old actress wore a turquoise sari, henna hand tattoo and traditional bindi to a party thrown in her honour by Indian superstar Neha Dhupia in Mumbai this weekend.

A source said: "Her bindi was shaped like a goddess's spear or trident, and painted in holy vermilion, which is really fashionable with young Indian women.

You know, that's not really something I want to partake in!

"She looked absolutely stunning in a turquoise sari. Looking that good she fitted right in with India's fashion elite at the party."

Jessica - who split from American football player Tony Romo in the summer - may be wearing the tattoo as a charm.

The 'Dukes of Hazzard' actress' spokesman said: "They're worn at wedding ceremonies, and are supposed to bring good luck to eligible single women in India."

Jessica - who is currently filming her globetrotting reality show 'The Price of Beauty' in India - has had some strange experiences during filming the show, which explores different ideas of beauty around the world.

She was caught in an earthquake in Japan, sat in a fattening hut in Uganda and was offered a brain sandwich in Morocco.

She joked: "You know, that's not really something I want to partake in!"
