Jordin Sparks is launching an affordable perfume because she thinks celebrity fragrances are too expensive for ordinary fans.

The 20-year-old singer has revealed she decided to create the scent titled 'Because of You', because she thinks celebrity perfumes are too expensive for ordinary fans.

She explained to WWD: "When I was starting this project, I really wanted it to be affordable. I looked at some other celebrity fragrances, and they were like $80. Even now, I look at a fragrance that's $80, and I can't bring myself to spend that much. In this economy especially, my fans deserve a high-quality, reasonably priced scent."

Jordin then tweeted her excitement at the scent, saying: "Im really excited 4 my perfume! Ive always loved fragrances & next week it will be out 4 everyone to try! YAY! All #becauseofyou guys. And the perfume is called #becauseofyou, because you guys mean the world to me! :). (sic)"

The 'American Idol' winner's perfume will be priced at an introductory offer of $9.50 at affordable fashion store Dots, before rising to $14.95 in Target shops on November 1.

Jordin is not the only celebrity who has launched her own scent. Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Aniston, Christina Aguilera, Paris Hilton and Sarah Jessica Parker have all created bespoke fragrances in recent years.
