We're ignored this lady for as long as possible, not because she didn't interest us or anything, but because we weren't sure what to make of her individual style.

She's quirky to say the least, after appearing in rubber outfits and origami style dresses quite recently and she also seems to have a fetish for wearing some outrageous false eyelashes too.

Don't be fooled by her over-the-top appearance though, as 2009 is set to be Lady GaGa's year, both in terms of music and fashion. She's written songs for Britney Spears and the Pussycat Dolls and is also a classically trained pianist. Not bad for a girl who went to school with Paris Hilton, aye?

We do like that she takes a risk, especially when the world of fashion has become so safe and predictable of late, and we're loving her peroxide blonde do; very rock chick-eque.

In terms of her stage outfits, there is just a hint of Katy Perry eccentricity about her, but Lady GaGa, real name Stefani Germanotta, takes it one step further by adding 80s sunglasses and silk gloves to her hot pants and corset look.

Also in her 'Just Dance' video she works two of the hottest trends set to make it big this year, leopard print and driving gloves- although not at the same time thankfully.

She is very appreciative of fashion and has admitted to MTV News that it's important to her creative process.

"Fashion is everything, when I'm writing music, I'm thinking about the clothes I want to wear on stage. It's all about everything altogether- performance art, pop performance art, fashion."

Her style may not be to everyone's taste, but like most fashionistas that doesn't really matter. If one person proclaims her as stylish then that's it, and at only 22 years old, let's face it she's still experimenting with her look anyway.

Style is all about making fashion your own and Lady GaGa certainly does that, whether she's a fashion icon or a disaster doesn't come in to it, and we predict a big fashion campaign on the horizon for her in the future. Watch this space...
