Marc Jacobs' partner Lorenzo Martone has confirmed the pair have not been together for two months, despite claims they married earlier this year.

Marc Jacobs has split from Lorenzo Martone.

The designer had been dating the Brazilian PR executive since 2008 but Lorenzo confirmed the split on twitter last Friday (23.07.10).

He tweeted: "Thanks for t notes. yes, I saw t press today. We are not together, haven't been in 2 months. And we will not comment on it. Sorry. We r fine. (sic)"

The day before (22.07.10) Marc had said he was "not getting married."

Mystery surrounded the status of their relationship as representatives for Marc and Lorenzo had denied reports that the couple married in St Barts over New Years, even though there was a wedding cake at the event.

In January a representative said: "Someone had a party for them, but there was no wedding. They are still engaged."

However, Lorenzo later revealed that the couple had wed although they had not signed any official wedding documents, meaning the marriage wasn't legal.

He explained: "In the end, we just had an intimate ceremony at a friend's house with people who were already on the island.

"Although the official wedding papers won't be signed till later this year, so legally we're not married yet."

Marc and Lorenzo were the subject of break up rumours in April when a friend told the New York Post newspaper: "They've both been telling people that they broke up."
