Milo Ventimiglia has come under fire for cutting his hair.

His latest cropped-style is a big departure from his usual floppy look and the 'Heroes' star admits some of his fans have been upset about his change of appearance.

He said: "Some fans seem to hate it but I needed to grow up. I have had fans come up to me demanding to know what I have done with my hair."

The 32-year-old actor - who previously dated his 'Heroes' co-star Hayden Panettiere - also revealed he is now too old to play teenage roles so needed to change his looks in order to get offered more roles.

He said: "I think there was a moment where my 'Heroes' character Peter Petrelli needed to step out of the lost little boy kind of innocent persona. It also coincided at a point in my life where I can't play these young teen roles anymore, but I still look young so I'm like what do I do? I'll just pack on some weight and cut my hair. It helped."
