Morgan Freeman credits David Beckham with making men's fashion popular.

My grandmother was a master seamstress in Arkansas and Mississippi. She taught me to look for workmanship, to see the stitches, to feel the cloth. That's how I know.

The Oscar-winning actor says the soccer star - who has three sons, Brooklyn, 11, Romeo, seven, and five-year-old Cruz with designer wife Victoria Beckham - has made it acceptable for males to start taking pride in their appearance and think about what they're wearing.

He said: "Before, men's fashion was for social things, for gays, for eccentrics, for weirdos; it was small market. David was the start: a hot straight, family man with kids. He was such a big star and he gave the possibility to be fashionable to millions. He made it possible for men to approach fashion without fear. Men felt, if he can do it, I can."

Morgan himself is a big fashion fan and was taught by his grandmother about clothes making so knows good clothes when he sees them.

The 'Million Dollar Baby' star - who is a huge admirer of Dolce & Gabbana - told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: "My grandmother was a master seamstress in Arkansas and Mississippi. She taught me to look for workmanship, to see the stitches, to feel the cloth. That's how I know."
