Nicole Richie's clothing range distributor Majestic Mills has entered into a legal wrangle with Los Angeles store Kiston.

Nicole Richie's distributor Majestic Mills is suing Los Angeles boutique Kitson.

The shop is alleged to have purchased $250,000 worth of goods from the Winter Kate range, but has not paid for it.

However, the shop is arguing a large proportion of the money owed relates to goods that could not be sold - up to $200,000-worth - and are waiting to be sent back to Majestic Mills.

adores Richie, the Winter Kate range has suffered growing pains

Director of operations at Kitson, Dean Khial, has claimed although the store "adores" Richie, the Winter Kate range has suffered "growing pains".

He told the New York Daily News: "Although Kitson adores Nicole Richie and has helped escalate her career with the support of her book signings, filming of numerous episodes of 'The Simple Life' and promoting her continuously successful jewellery collection by Pascal Mouawad, we feel the launch of her clothing collection, Winter Kate, had a lot of growing pains that often come along with any new designer collection."

However, a spokesperson for Majestic Mills has hit back at the attack, saying the store is looking to "generate press" by linking Nicole to the problem.

A representative said: "This is purely a legal issue between Majestic Mills, a manufacturing company, and Kitson, a vendor.

"Kitson's efforts to link Nicole to this are purely attempts for them to generate press, which is unfortunate and ridiculous."
