Penn Badgley likes women to look like they're wearing men's clothes.

The 'Gossip Girl' actor - who is dating his co-star Blake Lively - thinks there is nothing more appealing than when members of the opposite sex look like they have made little effort with their clothes.

He explained: "I like it when they wear a plunging V-neck, which looks like she pulled it off the floor of a man's bedroom. There's something so sensual about it."

The 22-year-old actor admits he isn't a fan of pieces with are too fussy, and prefers women not to look too styled.

He told cosmopolitan.com: "What a woman wears says a whole lot about her confidence. A sweater dress really can be the sexiest thing. As a man, I just like the simpler things."

Despite claiming he likes plain dressing, Penn admits finding thigh-high boots a turn on.

He added: "If a strong, secure girl wears thigh-high boots, it can be stunning and powerful."

Blake, 22, has previously claimed the secret to looking stylish is to dress for your body shape.

The actress - who was praised for the red Versace dress she wore to last month's Emmy Awards - added she steers clear of certain items she knows won't suit her even if they are in fashion.

She said: "Don't be a slave to your style icon. Kate Moss wears 20s flapper dresses that look incredible on her, but terrible on me. I have boobs and a butt so I find dresses with a loose waist that still have a 20s feel."
