Olga Kurylenko makes an ethical statement in her red carpet look

Olga Kurylenko was on the red carpet at the 2014 Oscars and whilst she may have stunned in her red dress, it was an ethically green piece.

The elegant and sustainably-designed Suzy Amis Cameron’s Red Carpet Green Dress was made from environmentally friendly materials featured a cutout detail and ruffled shoulder detail.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Olga said: "I really admire what Suzy does, and it's important to bring awareness to the fact that we need to be more green. We don't lose quality or beauty. It just takes a bit of thought."

It wasn’t only her dress that was ethically designed either, the Ukrainian-born model and actress wore a pair of metallic-trimmed black faux-suede evening shoes by Beyond Skin, whose handmade vegan and eco-friendly shoes are favourites of Natalie Portman and Anne Hathaway.

The shoes, which will soon be available for sale from Beyond Skin, are made from Dinamica, a durable, long-lasting and sustainable material manufactured in Italy from 100 per cent recycled bottle tops.

"Modern vegan fabrics aren't just kinder to animals than old-school leather is – they're also breathable, more durable, waterproof and eco-friendly", says PETA Associate Director Mimi Bekhechi. "As Olga Kurylenko's fabulous Oscars look proves, thanks to shoes like Beyond Skin's, it's easier than ever to find high-quality high fashion that doesn't come at the cost of any animal's life."

PETA, a longtime partner of Beyond Skin, helped coordinate Kurylenko's footwear with Red Carpet Green Dress, Suzy Amis Cameron's international design contest for gowns and menswear made of organic, sustainable or recycled materials. This is the fifth year of the contest, with Kurylenko and Kellan Lutz – a PETA supporter – wearing this year's winning designer's creations on the red carpet.
