Michelle Dockery is thrilled with her Golden Globes 2014 dress.

The 'Downton Abbey' star - who plays widowed Lady Mary on the hit period drama - has already picked out the perfect gown for the high-profile film and television awards ceremony held in Los Angeles this Sunday (12.01.14).

She teased in an interview with E! News: "I decided yesterday. I had a few to choose from. There were such amazing ones. It's hard to choose sometimes, but I'm really happy with the one I got. It's always fun to play dress up."

The fashion-savvy actress enjoyed tackling the darker side of Lady Mary in series four of the show, which takes place six months after the death of her husband Matthew Crawley, and says it also presented some styling challenges for the hair and make-up team.

Michelle explained: "When I was playing her like that, especially in episode one, she doesn't really care so much anymore, so the hair was slightly less sculpted than it normally is. There were challenges this time around because the state that Mary is in the first few episodes.

"It's been wonderful to play, because it wasn't something I was expecting. It's been wonderful to tap into that side of her character."
