Sarah Jessica Parker doesn't see herself as fashionable - yes, we think it's shocking too.

The actress has been hailed as an international trendsetter ever since she first graced TV screens as journalist Carrie Bradshaw in hit HBO show 'Sex and the City', but claims she feels embarrassed by her style icon status and doesn't dwell on the label.

She told Cosmopolitan.com at the launch of her SJP Collection shoe line for Nordstrom: "No, I don't identify that way. I'm not - and I know this might sound crazy - a particularly vain person. I'm sort of embarrassed by that introspection.

"And thinking about myself makes me feel kind of like a narcissist. But, I'm aware that there is an identification outside that people have about me - good or bad - and I'm comfortable with it. It's not for me to resent what is projected; I've been part and parcel of that."

The 48-year-old star also confessed she doesn't have much time in her busy schedule for retail therapy, although she is prone to the odd online splurge.

Sarah added: "I don't shop that much, but if I do it it's online. I think about shopping and I hope to shop and yet I really don't get to. And there's not a specific brand either, it's so irregular that I get to shop but it's not a common occurrence."

The actress made an appearance at the SJP Collection Pop Up Shop on Wednesday (26.02.14) in New York City to promote her new footwear line, which hits stores Friday.

The Nordstrom-exclusive collection of 25 different designs is within the average shoe-lover's price range, with pairs costing between $195 and $500.
