Forget the likes of Marks and Spencer, Next, and Gap. The number on store for clothes in the UK is none other than the Wal-Mart owned retail chain Asda!
Figures based on the number of items sold, show that Asda clothes sales account for 9.4% of the market, having grown by a third in the last year.
The Retail Giants have overtaken Marks and Spencer to become the top clothing retailer in the UK as Marks and Sparks battle to regain its crown as on of the UK's most popular high street brands. They said The figures setretched over a period where their brand might be expected to be weak as M&S is seen to be one of the best places to buy Knitwear.
Adsa's Greorge range was launched by Next founder George Davies back in 1990 and the brand is not sold in 240 out of 256 Asda stores in the UK. The chain is now testing standalone George stores on the high street as American father company Wal-Mart have.
