Imagine the lifestyle of an international model . All glitz, glamour and catwalks . Think again .
Anniken Binz is a new breed of model, with a passion for extreme sport.
The 29 year old from Oslo has been a base jumper for seven years.
Rather than spending her time applying makeup, or seeking out the latest designer handbag, Anniken passes her time diving out of planes, off buildings, or leaping from mountain tops.
Anniken has completed over 200 jumps, some of them from stomach turning heights, such as one of her latest jumps from the Menara Kuala Lumpur, a TV tower in Beijing. Anniken jumped from the broadcast part of the tower head which stands 300 metres from the ground. There was no time for hesitation in pulling her parachute release cord as from that height it takes only a few seconds to reach the ground.
Her modelling career has also reached the top, working with the likes of Armani, Benetton and Cosmopolitan, strutting her stuff on catwalks around the world.
Annikens high flying exploits have brought her to the attention of British outdoor clothing giant Berghaus, which has signed her up as part of a team of extreme sportspeople who push themselves to the limit in a range of dangerous outdoor activities.
Anniken enjoys expedition-style jumping best. This involves hiking and climbing up mountains, searching for new exit points and then finally taking the easy route down by using her body to fly out from the wall, then deploying a parachute to land safely.
She also specialises in bringing free flying elements to her jumps an acrobatic form that requires lots of practice from airplanes, dives boards and trampolines.
Beautiful, daring and stylish, with a high flying career in more ways than one. Jealous? No of course not ..
