Anna Sui
Anna Sui was praised for two decades of great design at an exclusive cocktail party in her hounour at Macy's on Tuesday.
The store has championed Sui since the early 80s and has set up a two-week showcase, called "Fashion Redux," to celebrate their relationship with the popular designer.
The display features a number of mannequins with each one wearing an example of Sui's creation from a different year between 1991 and 2006.
"I wanted each look to tell a story from each particular year," Sui said to wwd. "Looking at these looks all together makes me emotional. This is my life."
Macy's vice president and fashion director of women's apparel Nicole Fischelis hosted the event. She plans to continue to celebrate one contemporary designer each season in the same way. The next event will be during February's New York Fashion Week.
Anna Sui is particularly popular with young American fashion lovers. Her eye for great motifs and knowledge of pop culture are what have kept her at the top for so long.
