Christopher Kane is inspired by books.
The Scottish designer - who acted as a consultant for the Versace Versus range which debuted at Milan Fashion Week recently - admits the themes of his collections can be "random", adding they often aren't finalised until just before the final show.
He explained: "I'm inspired by anything from people in the street to movies and music. I also love to look at books. I find visual inspiration the best because it really evokes you and makes you think of future collections or characters.
As mentioned before, I love film and you can really relate to characters in movies - how the dress and feel. Besides film I love art, music... anything that makes you think.
"My inspiration can be very random until two weeks before the show - that's when I start to see real samples and I can start to imagine a character from film or music."
Christopher, 27 - whose celebrity fans include Rihanna and Yasmin Le Bon - refuses to detail how he comes up with the themes for his shows, preferring to retain an element of mystery around his methods.
He told UAE's Insider magazine: "I can't really give away too many of my secrets, but if I'm completely honest I always follow instincts and work to come up with something I love.
"As mentioned before, I love film and you can really relate to characters in movies - how the dress and feel. Besides film I love art, music... anything that makes you think."
