Dean and Dan Caten were inspired to become designers by their "hot older brother".

The twins behind DSquared - who grew up with seven brothers and sisters - revealed their good-looking sibling's girlfriends sparked their interest in the fashion industry.

Dan explained: "We had a hot older brother. Like, seriously hot. He had so many hot girlfriends. Maybe it's a Canadian thing, but everybody has to take their shoes off before they go indoors and we're sitting on the landing when one of his girlfriends takes her shoes off in the hall. No lie, they were salt-stained suede wedges with little stars and crescent moons. Like, totally Stevie Nicks. And we would literally fight over who could put them on first."

Our sisters would come home and we would have customised their entire wardrobe

The duo - who recently designed costumes for Britney Spears' 'Circus' tour, and have previously dressed Justin Timberlake, Madonna and Lenny Kravitz - began styling family members when they were just 10, although they were initially undecided whether to pursue fashion careers or become dancers.

Dan added to Britain's Grazia magazine: "Our sisters would come home and we would have customised their entire wardrobe.

"There was always a sister going to prom or on a date and we'd style them. I don't think we even thought that fashion could be a job back then. And you have our dad in the background saying, 'That's not a real job!' So we thought we might be dancers, because we were always dancing to Rod Stewart. Until we saw our dad's station wagon pull up. Then the stereo went off and the heels came off."
