David Beckham says he is proud of his wife Victoria for forging a successful fashion career after the Spice Girls split.

The former Spice Girls singer - whose designs have been worn by stars including Elle Macpherson and Cheryl Cole - has won plaudits from the fashion world for her collections and her spouse says she deserves all her success.

Speaking at a press conference for his Bodywear collection for H&M, David said: "I'm so proud of what she's achieved - to go from a Spice Girl to being taken seriously in the fashion industry, she's worked really hard and she deserves every success she's had."

Victoria has previously claimed she would be "incredibly nervous" to show her fashion collections to husband David.

The soccer star has never sat in on a showing of her clothes, and she admitted it is because she needs to focus on the work and would be worried about him.

Responding to who would be in her fantasy front row, she said: "My husband. David has never been to any of my shows as I'm incredibly nervous and I need to focus and concentrate."
