Diane Von Furstenberg is using her influence to debate the use of underweight models in the industry.
The legendary designer, who is President of the prestigious Council of Fashion Designers, has sent out a letter on the subject to all CDFA members.
She also met with powerful US Vogue Editor Anna Wintour, as well as designers Vera Wang and Derek Lam.
Furstenberg said:” It is undeniable that the fashion industry has a huge impact on young women, so it is very important that we encourage and promote good health as beauty, and empower these women to want to take care of themselves.
The entire industry has to remain sensitive and aware of this issue, but should not discriminate.”
WWD Daily also reported that Von Furstenberg added that she welcomed any input on the subject and said that the CFDA would be in touch.
