Diane Von Furstenberg said women are bigger than they were in the seventies.
When asked if models are really getting thinner she said:" Twiggy was skinnier than everyone."
"When Jerry Hall did her first show for me, at 17, she was unbelievably narrow.
The thing is women are getting much bigger."
She also told the Guardian that she believes that dress sizes are also getting smaller.
"A dress size that in the Seventies was a twelve is now a six. So when we talk about a size zero - a few years ago - a dress that is now labelled size zero would have been labelled size four. "
Furstenberg is also President of the influential fashion council the CDFA who have recently created an initiative to implement "guidelines" but not "enforcement" about health and awareness in the industry.
