Paris Fashion Week started earlier this week but there will be no size ban on skinny models.
Didier Grumbach, a leading official which governs French fashion, said that he will not follow the Spanish lead to ban models with a BMI less than 18.
He told AP Press that he did not believe organisers should ban the use of models considered underweight.
He said: "I think it's a non-issue. You don't solve public health problems by regulating the size of models,"
You know, fashion is only the reflection of what is happening in society. It is not the cause.
Madrid Fashion Week kick-started the debate last month when the Spainish Association of Fashion Designers agreed to the ban on models who fell below the reccomended healthy BMI limits.
Grumbach added: I honestly think we are not responsible for health problems, Let the Health Ministry take care of health problems, and let fashion designers choose models according to their taste."
