Elly Jackson's insists her hair cut is accidental, not a fashion statement.

The La Roux singer never intended to have her androgynous short quiffed style and has denied it was an attempt to attract more attention.

She said: "I didn't do the hair to sell records. It happened by accident. I started cutting it but it went a bit wrong and I quite liked it.

"Hopefully my album will give people more to grab on than just two singles and hair."

It seems that many of the 'Bulletproof' star's fashion choices come around by mistake.

Speaking of the infamous T-shirt bearing the word **** which she wore to sign her record deal, Elly - who makes up the duo with producer Ben Langmaid - added to Britain's Metro newspaper: "I only wore that T-shirt because I didn't have any clean clothes. I wasn't trying to be rebellious or punky. My mate had just bought it because she knows I love that word. I've regretted it to this day."
