We may be constantly inspired by style icons such as the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Moss and Rihanna, but it seems that we’re a nation of ‘stay-the-same-stylers’, lacking confidence, time and money when it comes to refreshing our outward appearance to the world.

New research from Groupon UK reveals that whilst a massive 79% of British women spend their weekends searching out new clothes and cosmetics, almost half still wear the same make-up on a daily basis and stick to the same wardrobe day-in, day-out.

And even though a staggering 52% of women wish their lives were more exciting and varied, it appears it’s Groundhog Day when it comes to how we look, with half admitting they’ve never changed their appearance or refreshed their look with a makeover.

Seven Suphi, Life Coach and Behavioural Change Specialist comments:  “It can be all too easy to throw the same old clothes and make-up on, particularly when so many of us lead busy lives. But if you’re sticking to the same style year after year it might be time for a change. You need to wear clothes and make up which will work for you now – it’s all too easy to go on autopilot.

“Think about the image you want to portray and whether your style matches that – or ask someone else if you want an honest opinion. Life changes and our style should reflect that.

“Now that winter is closing in and Christmas parties are on the horizon, it’s a great opportunity to think about what’s in our wardrobe and make-up bag. Experimenting with clothes and make-up can be a great way to express ourselves and build confidence.  Us British girls shouldn’t be afraid to try new things”.

A huge 40% say they’ve never experimented with make-up and fashion style, blaming a lack of money, time or confidence for holding them back in the style stakes.

With a constant stream of fashionable, stylish celebrities and constantly changing seasonal ranges, it’s unsurprising that up to half the nation feel like they’re stuck in a ‘style rut’.

Jina Kwon, Regional Director, GrouponUK, adds: “It’s a shame that British women feel they lack the money to try new fashion and make-up styles when there are so many ways for people to shop-savvy and update their look without breaking the bank.”
