Fendi and Karl Lagerfield used the Great Wall of China as a catwalk to show off their latest designs to a star studded audience on Friday night .

The once in a lifetime event was held on top of the ancient structure, with huge spotlights guiding the models down what is perhaps the longest runway in fashion history.

Kate Bosworth and Thandie Newton joined some of China's most famous stars at the Wall at Juyongguan, an hour north of Beijing, for the unveiling of a new collection in the country.

Newton looked radiant in a primrose yellow satin ballgown and Bosworth kept away the chill of the night air in a striking black and white fur-like coat.

Fifties-style promdresses and fur jackets were the main attractions on the stage which was given a breathtaking backdrop by the mountains that surround the ancient landmark.

After the show Karl Lagerfield, wearing his trade mark shades and black overcoat was joined on the wall by creative director Silvia Venturini Fendi to receive applause from the enchanted audience.
