Fur coats and accessories have become the new must-have items, as temperatures across Britain continue to plummet.

Real and fake fur have made a huge comeback, with The Evening Standard reporting to see young women in mink, seal and ermine fur in London last night.

Celebrities too have been spotted wrapping up in the comfy furs, with Pixie Geldof seen sporting a trendy leopard print fake version, as she headed home from a night out.

The fur debate has raged on for years and has resulted in some nasty backlash from protestors PETA, who have flour bombed Lindsay Lohan in the past and campaigned against Donna Karan, who up until a few weeks ago, still used real fur in her collections.

They also protested at the Olsen twins book launch last year and plan to target Armani in the next year.

The ongoing debate is sure to be re ignited following Karl Lagerfeld's comments to the Daily Telegraph yesterday about fur, claiming it is childish to discuss the issue in a world where eating meat was normal.

Lagerfeld also commented that he does not wear fur, but did recognise that there is "an industry who lives from that."

Well, whatever the outcome, fur is undoubtedly one of the hottest trends for 2009, and there are plenty of 'fake' bargains to be had on the high-street this winter.
