Gareth Pugh's Spring/Summer 10 collection attracted a star-studded audience at Paris Fashion Week yesterday (30.09.09).
Celebrities including Rihanna, R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe and Daphne Guinness turned out to watch the preview, which was characterised by the colour grey.
Daphne termed the designer "the future", adding: "I've been so sick and tired of the greatest hits of the last hundred years, and finally we have the future again."
The collection was a move away from Gareth's usual black, gothic look.
Models wore ankle-length chiffon dresses, biker jackets and skin-tight trousers.
Gareth explained: "It makes it so different when you do it with something chiffon. It makes it so much more luxury and feminine and ethereal."
The palette took in all shades of grey, from pale silvery tones to dark charcoals.
Sheer tops and grey hoods were big looks, with trench coats and wedge-heeled boots all coming down the catwalk.
Gareth also catered for men, with male models boasting chainmail across their chests.
the future, adding: I've been so sick and tired of the greatest hits of the last hundred years, and finally we have the future again.
Michael said after the show: "It was very manga and very bold, I loved it."
Japanese designer Limi Feu also showed yesterday, with models debuting the collection on a hot pink carpet.
Clothes were black and white and large - white shirts, cropped trousers, full skirts, waistcoats and striped trousers all featured.
Limi, the daughter of designer Yohji Yamamoto, also injected some humour into the proceedings, with her invitation reading: "What do you think of my clothes? Are they a little Yohji Yamamoto?"
Anne Valerie Hash showed models in translucent blouses and culottes, while floor-length dresses were cut from metallic cotton.
The overall feel was of airy fabrics, with Anne admitting she had a tough time realising her vision.
She said: "It's the fabric that mastered us, not us that mastered the fabric."
