Jason Wu has designed five pieces for a bridal wear collection which will be available exclusively through Net-a-porter.com next year.
Jason Wu has designed a bridal wear collection for Net-a-porter.com.
The range will feature five ivory dresses from the designer - who is a favourite of US first lady Michelle Obama after he designed the dress she wore to her husband Barak Obama's inauguration - which vary in price from $795 to $4,000.
Wu described the designs as: "Both youthful and injected with elements of American sportswear."
He added that while the dresses have been designed for weddings they will be versatile, and suitable for use at a number of other occasions.
The range includes a tulle layered gown, a bias cut chiffon skirt with an embroidered camisole top, an organza skirt covered with feathers, which is paired with a chiffon tank and a 50s styled silk dress with a full skirt and high-waisted bow belt.
The designs showcase classic Wu hallmarks, from ornate beading to structured silhouettes and on-trend bows and feathers.
Of the collection, Net-A-Porter buying director Holli Rogers told WWD: "Jason knows how to render the most luxurious fabrics into exquisite gowns that are at once sophisticated and young.
"He knows how to apply just the right detail to make a look special without ever appearing heavy handed. This bridal collection meets the needs of the modern-bride: chic, fashionable, and timeless."
The collection will be available through the internet-based fashion chain from January exclusively for one year.
