He's left his mark on the music world and now he's moving onto to take fashion too.

Kanye West debuted his eagerly anticipated, highly secretive womenswear show this weekend, and was met with mixed reviews.

Though nobody can deny that his first runway show was as A-List as he is, with a multitude of fashionable faces taking their seats on the front row, his collection left his star-studded audience a little baffled and bewildered.

Where Ciara may have thought that her friends attempt to break into the fashion world was 'monumental' there were others that thought there was no place for a slashed bandaged dress that required a woman to bare all to wear it or the amount of misplaced fur for what was supposed to be a spring/summer line.

Everyone from the Olsen twins to Anna Wintour was present at easily the most talked about show on the Paris Fashion Week calendar - and it seemed that most were either confused, deflated or less-than-impressed by frontrow lover West's supposed big break into the world he likes to claim to be a part of.

There has been speculation as to who has been helping Kanye prepare for the weekend with names including Louise Wilson and Louise Goldin being two in the hat. And while it has left fashion commentators scratching their heads, it would be unfair to say that the collection was a complete waste of time.

Given the amount of time that Kanye spends on the fashion circuit, there is the potential to gain knowledge, experience and a greater understanding of how his passion for fashion works. And although this collection hasn't had spectators hailing praises from the rooftops (like Stella McCartney's show) there is still an eye for style that could blossom into some fantastic clothes.

It just goes to show that it's not always who you know, as all the celebs in the world couldn't make up for Mr West's off the mark debut.

Better luck next year Kanye...
