Karl Lagerfeld showcased his seventh collection of the year on Thursday night in London.
The Chanel pre-autumn/winter was inspired by London and aimed to preserve the skills of haute couture workshops that are now disappearing from Paris.
The fashion house bought up the remaining five ateliers d’art in Paris, from the French Federation for Craft Professionals in 2002. Since then they have embarked on a mission to produce a semi-couture collection using the painstaking skills of embroidery, ornamentation and shoemaking.
The range is now produced once a year in December, to audiences in Tokyo, New York and Paris.
This year's collection-named Paris-Londres, was a tribute the relationship between music and fashion in London in the sixties.
The show was opened with model Irina Lazareanu, who took to the empty runway and sang the soundtrack for the whole show.
Celebrity guests included Kylie Minouge, Naomi Campbell and Thandie Newton, who watched models strut up the catwalk in bouclè coats edged with jewels and dresses in pleated silk.
The Chanel after party took place at Nobu, where new Chanel muse 17 year old, Harry Potter star Emma Watson, partied with Lilly Allen and Kate Moss.
