Karl Lagerfeld

Karl Lagerfeld's ex-assistant has written an explosive book about his time working with the Chanel Legend.

Arnaud Maillard has been unemployed since The Kaiser dismissed him in 2005, after he apparently expressed a wish to work at Céline.

Apparently Karl didn't want him to go, but then fired him anyway when the job was no longer available. However, if you were expecting a bitter rant in this new book, you may find it a shock that Arnaud claims he still has massive respect for his ex-boss.

However, he did conceded that "after everything that happened to me, I wanted to describe another side of Karl," reports The Cut, and what better way to get even that to spill all his secrets to the world's media?

According to Spiegel Online, Arnaud labels Karl as high-maintenance and "an unbelievable narcissist. He needs an eternity to get ready in the morning. He takes photos of himself at every photo shoot and puts them everywhere.

"He surrounds himself with a kind of royal court, nobody disagrees with him. Wherever he goes, there is Pepsi-Cola in a Baccarat crystal glass waiting for him and it gets replaced every 30 minutes. It's like the 18th century."

Arnaud also reportedly slams Karl's deal with H&M too, revealing that he only spent a day designing the collection.

"I still remember how Karl sent me the first sketches for the H&M collection under extreme time pressure. Our team worked day and night for three months on the collection, but never saw any extra pay.

"I can remember well the two half-days that Karl worked on the drafts. Then he got millions from the Swedes," he added.

We can only imagine what Karl will be saying about all this, but our guess is that he won't be too happy!
