The dress worn by Keira Knightley in Atonement has been voted as the most iconic outfit from a film in a recent survey.

The stunning green gown topped the poll compiled by Sky Movies and InStyle magazine beating off well known costumes including Audrey Hepburn's Givenchy gown from Breakfast at Tiffany's and Olivia Newton John's sexy Grease leggings.

Other notable costumes that made the list included Marilyn Monroe's dresses from The Seven Year Itch and Liza Minelli’s stage ensemble in Cabaret.

The dress worn by Keira Knightley in last year's smash film caused a stir in the fashion world with every high street keen to get their hands on a version of it.
