Dedicated fashion followers are due to invade the capital next month for the London fashion week. Around 3000 designers, buyers, celebrities and Fashoin industry media will be using the humble black cab at their official mode of transport
Doll, a London based fashion service and production agency, is aiming to shake up the conventional London Fashion Week activities with their On | Off platform for established and new and upcoming British fashion design talent. The On schedule is a showcase for existing talent and well known designers, with the Off schedule being a platform for new and up and coming talent.
Organisers of the On | Off initiative say the London Taxi was chosen as their official transport because it was recently voted London’s top tourist attraction. The traditional values of the London Taxi and the revolutionary Zingo technology relates to their fashion week initiative of combining traditional values with a new and spontaneous attitude.
Lee Lapthorne, Director of On | Off also said, "Like fashion, black cabs epitomize everything that’s cool about London. The Zingo cabs will provide a safe and reliable chauffer service for our guests from home and abroad. We are proud to be supported and transported by these icons of the city".
Matthew Cheyne, Sales and Marketing Director of LTI Vehicles who manufacturer the black cabs in Coventry said, "We look on our world famous taxis being selected as VIP transport because they are a fashionable British icon as an honour. Fashionable they may be but they are uniquely recognisable and it is important that people using this service to and from the fashion events can easily identify the safe and official transport laid on for them. We know they will take the experience of riding in a British cab home with them".
The Doll On | Off service will operate from the traditional Fashion Tents operations centre in the Kings Road area of London to the On | Off venue at the Royal Academy of Arts, Burlington Gardens from September 20-22.
