Lou Doillon Launches Jeans Fashion Line

Lou Doillon, daughter of 60s icon Jane Birken, has created her first fashion collection with a top jeans company.

Often described as the 'French Kate Moss' Doillon has signed a 3 year deal with Lee Cooper to design, endorse and be ‘the face of’ her own jeanswear range.

Uniquely branded with a Lou / Lee Cooper logo, this capsule collection for women, themed around a ‘Globe Trotter’ spirit is based on her own unique dress style. The range features very high waisted, wide leg pants. Extreme large tops worn over skinny legs and plenty of high-waist skirts and hot pants.

The collection will also include accessories in the form of scarves that take their inspiration from old men’s ties and braces.

A total of 14 outfits'Made in Paris' pieces have been designed exclusively by Lou to be on sale in time for spirng/summer 08. The mainline collection makes up a further 16 styles in special ‘Lou’ colour ways which will be developed in time for autumn/winter 08 into a 24-30 piece collection.

Both seasons will see the inclusion of the XFit Lycra denim licensed exclusively to Lee Cooper in Europe ensuring the collection will uphold Lee Cooper’s commitment to being ‘the best fitting, best priced jeans in the world’.

“Like everyone, I've had loads of denim in my time, but being asked to design my own range of clothes with Lee Cooper is a really exciting challenge," said Lou.

"It's an opportunity for me to take a material everyone knows, and treat it in ways that nobody would ever expect. You know how we've all patched, ripped and pinned denim – or anything else we could think of to make it more individual for that matter – well, that's the sort of spontaneous spirit I've always admired, and was looking for here."

The collection will target the younger end of the market, the 16-24 year old. Initially the range will be distributed through 250 Lee Cooper retail stores worldwide.

Daughter of Jane Birkin and Jaques Doillon; Lou, 25, is multi-lingual and multi-talented. Actress, artist and now designer, as famous for her quirky attitude to dressing as she is her model looks. She’s been the face of Givenchy and is the current Pirelli Calendar girl.
