Marie Helvin still can't find the perfect white shirt.

The 57-year-old model - who was a regular on the catwalk and in fashion magazines during the 70s and 80s - has never been able to find a style of shirt which fits her properly despite owning a huge collection of designer clothes.

She said: "I am constantly searching for the perfect white shirt. At my age, I can't wear all these short, tight things anymore. I'd look ridiculous.

"I like a plain white shirt, a black A-line skirt and some nice shoes. And that's it."

Marie - who has worked for designers such as Yves Saint Laurent, Versace and Valentino - is due to auction off her old wardrobe with upmarket vintage clothing experts Kerry Taylor in London next week.

The collection will go under the hammer at the same time as the late screen icon Audrey Hepburn's clothes.

However, Marie is not sad to see her outfits go up for sale.

She explained to Britain's Independent newspaper: "I can't even get a finger into them now!"

Marie - who was previously married to famed photographer David Bailey - previously said she wanted to get rid of her old designer gowns because she didn't think it was appropriate for her to wear them anymore.

She said: "Kate Moss will probably snap them up for Topshop. Hah! But you know, I don't think it's appropriate to dress too sexily at my age. Anyway, I can't get into them any more."
