Michelle Obama has put a New York based designer on the fashion map.
Designer Jason Wu has received a boost, after the future first lady wore one of his creations to last week's The Barbara Walters Special.
She looked stunning in a ivory silk shift dotted with ebony florets, and we can expect to see plenty more of her in Wu's creations. Reports suggest that Michelle has also snapped up three pieces from Wu’s spring 2009 collection.
Wu is on the rise as a designer to watch as he hosted a trunk show at LA boutique Satine, alongside actress Lucy Liu and popular social networking site MySpace.
He will also appear as one of the featured designers in Gap’s spring white shirt collaboration, which in the past has showcased the talents of designer favourite Phillip Lim.
