Stella’s On-line Anti- Fur Protest

28-06-2007 17:47

Stella Mc Cartney has joined forces with PETA for the world’s first anti-fur protest.

The week-long event kicks off at 7pm on July 12 on a dedicated online world called Second Life.

The designer and PETA have created their ‘world based on the English countryside. Second World residents (known as avatars) can visit to discuss the issue of fur as fashion and donate money to the worthy cause.

PETA president Ingrid Newkirk told the press:" We are always looking for new ways to raise awareness about the extreme suffering that animals endure on fur farms. When Stella came up with this idea, we were on board from the beginning."

"Stella's Second Life fur protest is a light-hearted way to draw attention to a very serious issue. Sometimes it's nice to have a bit of humour on serious subjects."
