British designer Paul Smith launched his new fragrance recently.

The Paul Smith ‘Rose’ scent was inspired by a rose named after him by his keen gardener wife Pauline.

She cultivated the bloom as a special birthday gift and Smith decided to use his flower's fragrance as the basis of the new perfume.

Antoine Maisondieu, the perfumer who worked on the fragrance, used a new technology called ScentTrek to bottle the essence of the Sir Paul Smith rose, then added Turkish rose oil, green tea, violet, magnolia, cedar and soft musks to create the eau de parfum.

Smith told vogue:". It was all done in a highly technological way. But really, I do think too many perfumes are produced too quickly under one label these days.".

"It means the finesse and overall quality of the product isn't as good as it should be. It's important not to compromise.".
