Prada's Spring/Summer 10 collection is inspired by corridors.
Miuccia Prada presented her latest line on the first day of Milan Fashion Week yesterday (24.09.09), with the set designed to look like hotel hallways and nightclub entrances.
She explained: "I was influenced by the imagination of corridors. The corridors of hotels are mysterious, there is both high and low life."
Models strutted the runway in silvery shorts suits, aqua and green-printed coats, capes, flower print dresses accessorised with Perspex shoes and see-through bags.
Crystals were featured on dresses, belts and shoes, while short hemlines featured heavily. Models sported knickers under dresses and French knickers in black or white silk were coupled with figure-hugging tops.
Miuccia added: "The transparency was the idea of light and of this sexy woman walking the corridors.
I was influenced by the imagination of corridors. The corridors of hotels are mysterious, there is both high and low life.
"I have a passion for knickers. Also, platforms are dead. Well, at least until the next show."
Also showing was Dolce and Gabbana's diffusion line D+G, with designers citing Kate Moss and Brigitte Bardot in 1965 movie 'Viva Maria!' as their muses.
'Cowgirls in the Sand' was the theme, with models wearing denim mini-dresses, bustiers, shirts and cowboy boots with fringing.
Lace, tulle, suede and broderie anglaise also featured, along with frilled hotpants and ra-ra skirts.
Giorgio Armani's collection - which saw Janet Jackson watching from the audience - silenced rumours about the future of the brand following his health problems in May.
The line was characterised by bright colours, with bubble skirts, shorts and cropped jackets all making an appearance.
Again hemlines were kept above the knee, with loose shorts and sparkly shorts under mini dresses all featured.
Giorgio said: "During my 30 years in fashion, I explored many different roads, from minimalism to ethnic, but most of the time, people expect the same style from me and don't understand change. That's my challenge."
