Ralph Lauren to create 'amazing' wedding dress

Ralph Lauren is creating a wedding dress for his daughter Dylan and hopes it is better than anything else he has made.

Ralph Lauren is determined to out-do himself with his daughter's wedding gown.

The 71-year-old fashion designer is creating a custom-made dress for his daughter Dylan and he hopes his creation makes her feel "fantastic" and she treasures the garment forever.

He said: "I had to do something that was better than ever before. When you do something for your family or your daughter, I mean it's the only daughter I have - beautiful girl. I want to just give her something that she'd really treasure and give her something that would be really amazing. I want her to feel fantastic."

Dylan - who is so excited by the dress she has told her fiance she may even sleep in it - is thrilled with her father's creation.

She said: "It's very exciting. Obviously my dad is making my dress for it, which is the most amazing thing because it's really stunning."

Ralph - who has been married to wife Ricky for 46 years - has been designing since the 1960s and despite considering many career options, including a baseball player, a basketball player, a cowboy, a dancer, he says he always felt he was "special" in some way.

He told TV talk show host Oprah Winfrey: "My father was an artist. When life was harder and he couldn't get jobs, he painted houses, but he was artistic. When I went to see his work, it was special. Somewhere along the line, I felt I was special. I didn't know why."
