Polo Ralph Lauren sued over copied designs

09-01-2007 15:45

American denim brand G-Star has successfully sued fashion giant Polo Ralph Lauren for recreating two of its designs.

The two pieces in question are G-Star's signature Raw Denim Ellwood jeans and Mash jacket.

The District Court of Amsterdam has ordered Ralph Lauren to destroy all their remaining stock of the two lines, pay G-Star's legal costs and damages and provide sales and profit figures for the products.

A spokesperson for Polo Ralph Lauren told Drapers, "We are disappointed with the ruling. We have the chance to appeal, but we have made a strategic decision not to."
