Sainsburys is launching a new ethical clothing range in early 2007.
The supermarket giants new collection will carry the Fair-trade Mark, which confirms their commitment to using Fair-trade cotton.
The new collection will feature 22 different styles for men, women and children and is designed by an in house team as part of the TU clothing brand.
Chief Executive Justin King told retail watch: We know from selling Fair-trade food and the increase in its popularity over the last 12 months that our customers are supporting the FAIRTRADE Mark, and what it stands for.
We expect this to be the case with clothing made from Fair-trade certified cotton, as well as offering Fair-trade cotton growers a fair and stable price.
Fair-trade certified cotton also makes high quality fabric and using it means we can offer our customers a really desirable range of clothes."
