Stella McCartney's Spring/Summer 10 collection was designed for "real women".

The British designer showcased her new pieces at Paris Fashion Week yesterday (05.10.09), with the brightly coloured line providing a change from her usual muted palette.

She said: "For summer, it's not about aggression or power, it's about being positive and being a real woman. For me those were real women coming down the runway."

The show attracted a star-studded audience, with Stella's father Sir Paul McCartney and his girlfriend Nancy Shevell there to support her.

Other famous faces in the crowd included Rihanna, Gwyneth Paltrow, Laura Bailey, Yasmin Le Bon, Charlotte Rampling, Princess Caroline of Monaco and daughter Charlotte Casiraghi.

Supermodel Natalia Vodianova walked the runway in a red one-shoulder piece, strutting her stuff to The Beatles' 'She's Leaving Home'.

I love everything she does. She's my baby.

The collection included halter-necks, mini-dresses and long frocks in pink, orange, blue, yellow, turquoise and purple.

Ruffles were featured around shoulders, while wrapover trousers, culottes, romper suits and T-shirt dresses were also big looks.

Paul said after the show: "I love everything she does. She's my baby."

Also showing yesterday was Yves Saint Laurent (YSL), whose collection also attracted a host of celebrities.

Prince, wearing a gold sequined jacket he had designed himself, sat in the front row, along with Kate Moss and boyfriend Jamie Hince, Katy Perry, Rihanna and Claudia Schiffer.

Designed by Stefano Pilati, the collection represented him "forging a space for a renewed dialogue on representation and the fundamentals of dressing".

Jackets featured large sleeves, while dresses boasted ruffled collars.

The surprise piece of the collection was lederhosen, sent down the catwalk in place of shorts, while colours included black, white, grey and nude shades.

The famed YSL tuxedo was given a new twist, with straight trousers teamed with bolero jackets.

Celine featured dresses, shirts and trench coats with military detailing.

Creative director Phoebe Philo said: "I wanted to clean it up, refocus, and present a strong, powerful woman."

Other pieces included tunics, over-sized shirts, wide-leg trousers and blouses with detachable sleeves.
