Alice Temperley thinks Duchess Catherine is the best ambassador for British fashion.

The designer is proud to dress the 31-year-old royal and her sister Pippa Middleton, branding them "lovely girls", and thinks Catherine in particular is a great example of how to embrace the UK's fashion industry.

She told The Daily Telegraph newspaper: "The Duchess is an inspiration. She's very graceful, gracious and she's a brilliant ambassador for British fashion. She mixes up designer and high street; the perfect modern-day woman."

Alice - whose clients include Gwyneth Paltrow and Scarlett Johansson - is hopeful things can change in the modelling industry and more will be done to protect the rights of young girls in future.

She said: "It's really sad. Models are so young - they come to castings at 13, 14 - and you have to look after them and respect them.

"There are big problems in some parts of the industry. A lot of it is people who aren't happy with themselves trying to prove a point."

The hardworking designer returned to work just two days after her son Fox London was born in 2008, and says he has fully embraced the fashionista lifestyle.

Alice laughed: "You know, maybe he's in training to run the company one day. He's into lipstick and jewellery and all sorts of things he probably shouldn't be. He sits in the front row at shows in his superhero outfit and he just loves it."
