Fashion Art Invades the Streets

8 months ago 29th Feb 12:21

Chanel is the latest fashion house to invade the streets with public art after they launched their Mobile Art exhibit in Hong Kong.

A space age looking 'container' housing the exhibit is nestled between the towering sky scrapers of the city.

Inside are multi-sensoral exhibits that were comissioned from 20 famous artists worldwide, including Yoko Ono. Each of the installations is somehow based on Chanel's iconic 2.55 quilted handbag.

Just last week YSL also announced they will be taking to the streets with a new approach to advertising for this season.

The fashion house unveiled a travelling installation of life-size images from the season's 'Manifesto' which was open to the public at the Dray Walk Gallery, part of Old Truman Brewery, in Shoreditch.

Also on Monday YSL released a special behind-the scenes 'Manifesto' video exclusively on the internet.

Are we seeing a move away from traditional fashion adverts in glossy magazines?
