Christopher Kane was crowned Scottish Designer of the Year at the Scottish Fashion Awards last night (09.10.13).

The star picked up the prize for the second year in a row at the eighth annual ceremony recognising excellence in Scottish fashion and revealed the honour was of "huge" importance to him after working so hard in the run-up to London Fashion Week last month.

He told Glamour magazine: "It's nice to be recognised obviously in Scotland...it's lovely, it's a huge award. I was in Paris last week. I'm just fed up of drinking and drinking and partying.

"I have been celebrating a lot and I just want to wrap up and now it's back on to the new season. We're working on pre-Fall men's and Autumn/Winter. No rest for the wicked basically. I'm exhausted."

Other big wins included Chanel, who took home International Designer of the Year for its use of Scottish textiles in its Métiers D'Art Paris-Edinburgh collection, while Mary Charteris was named Scottish Model of the Year, and singer Emeli Sandé scooped the Scottish Fashion Icon gong.

The likes of Victoria Beckham, Jonathan Saunders and Holly Fulton had all been nominated at the awards.

Awards chairman Dr Tessa Hartmann said: "The Scottish Fashion Awards are now a globally recognised event, which acknowledges the finest fashion design, creative and textile talents we have in Scotland and indeed working around the world.

"It's incredible to think how much the event has grown in just eight years and we're very proud to celebrate the achievements of all the nominees."
