Christina Ricci,Jennifer Lopez, Victoria Beckham, Katie Holmes and The Olsen Twins were among the guests at this year's Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art last night.
The star studded event marked the opening of the new Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy exhibition at the museum in New York and is one of the most popular parties in a fashionista's calendar.

This year's exhibition looks at the influence super heroes have had on fashion and how batman logo's, Spiderman's web and Wonderwoman's super body con outfits have translated onto the catwalk.
"Superheroes are about issues of the body, identity and transformation, about acting your fantasies and transforming yourself into anyone or anything you want to be," said Costume Institute curator Andrew Bolton to AP. "Those are all the things at the heart of fashion."
Highlights of the exhibition include Michelle Pfeiffer's super slim black catsuit from Batman Returns, an X-men inspired Mugler gown that morphs from a birdlike top to an amphibian corset and then mermaid skirt and various Spiderman-esque web gowns by the likes of Galliano, Jean Paul Gaultier, Julien Macdonald and Giorgio Armani.
"Superheroes" opens Wednesday and runs through Sept. 1.
