Daria Werbowy quit modelling because she was so exhausted.

The 30-year-old model - who has replaced Miranda Kerr as the new face of Mango - started out in the industry aged 14, but decided to take an extended break at the height of her career because the job had taken a physical and mental toll on her.

She told the US edition of Harper's Bazaar magazine: "I took a risk a couple of years ago where I decided to do the minimal amount that I could get away with, because I physically and mentally couldn't handle it anymore.

"It's like, you have everything you want, what you dreamt of is coming true, you can't buy anything else to make you happy, so then you think, Well, what else is there? And you have to leave."

Upon returning from her two-year break, Daria vowed to take more time off to relax at home in Cork, Ireland, to preserve her health.

The Canadian beauty said: "I work for a chunk of time, I do everything back-to-back, and then I'm completely off."

The model-of-the-moment also revealed she keeps fit thanks to a mix of Ashtanga yoga and extreme sports like sailing, even crossing the Atlantic in 2008.

She enthused: "I'm a pretty extreme person, if I say I'm going to sail across the Atlantic, I will."
