Donatella Versace at Milan Fashion Week

Donatella Versace believes sexy clothes ooze confidence.

The 58-year-old fashion designer - who revealed her new collection of skimpy designs at Milan Fashion week last Friday (20.09.13) - claims revealing, figure-hugging, dresses give the impression a woman is happy in her own skin rather than signalling she's after a bit of fun under the sheets.

Speaking to The Independent newspaper, Donatella said: "Every woman likes sex. If they don't like it, they should go to a shrink! Sorry. I'm not talking about sex shop dresses, but dresses that can help you look better than you are and more confident. It's about confidence.

"To be confident in yourself. When you are confident wearing certain kinds of clothes, you are more confident about your ideas and have more courage to say your ideas and your opinions. Which are not necessarily fashion opinions, they can be opinions in many different ways.

"A strong opinion, and the courage to say it. Sexy clothes don't only express 'I want sex', but courage. 'This is me, this is my courage. You need to confront me'."

Versace's spring/summer 2014 line showcased a mix of glamour and "street style" in Milan. Denim, leathers and chains graced the catwalk at the event, while fluorescent colours and high-cut leather jackets gave off a youthful vibe.

Donatella said backstage at the show: "I wanted everything to look casual but with a street toughness."
