Duchess Catherine in Issa dress

Duchess Catherine in Issa dress

Issa London will sell a high street version of Duchess Catherine's famous engagement dress in conjunction with Banana Republic.

The British brand has created a "day wear version" of the iconic blue wrap dress, which sold out in record time after the 31-year-old royal wore it during her engagement announcement to Prince William in 2010.

The budget-friendly dress, made from jersey material, comes in both blue and plum. It carries the same wrap waist and ruched detailing as the original, while another similar style features short sleeves and a deep V-neck.

Fans will be able to snap up Catherine's coveted style from August 8, for a fraction of the £565 price tag that came with her designer gown, as the new high street dresses will range from £65 to £75.

The news comes as high street fashion brands are in a rush to recreate the one-of-a-kind blue polka dot Jenny Packham dress Catherine wore on Tuesday (23.07.13) as she emerged from St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London, with her newborn son, Prince George.

While Catherine and husband Prince William, 31, introduced the royal heir to the world, the Mayfair-based designer's website crashed after word spread about the dress - which was custom made for the duchess - on social media.
