The 'Birdman' star - who was nominated in the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role category - looked stunning in a Dior Couture tuxedo gown, which featured a tailored black jacket and sheer floor-length skirt.

The auburn-haired beauty admitted she was pleased she had chosen the alternative look after seeing it "come to life" from an initial paper sketch.

When asked why she had opted for the menswear-inspired outfit, she told PEOPLE: "Different is good.

"There was a sketch of this and it looked pretty much exactly like this in the sketch and somehow they made it come to life exactly like on the paper."

The 26-year-old actress - who, along with her 'Birdman' co-stars, took home the award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture - finished off her look with contrasting red lipstick and a simple ponytail which revealed her eye-catching Repossi diamond ear cuffs.

Emma - who is dating 'Never Let Me Go' star Andrew Garfield - wasn't the only actress to don a tuxedo-inspired ensemble at the star-studded ceremony held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

'Pretty Woman' actress Julia Roberts also opted for a black tie-style Givenchy jumpsuit with a plunging neckline.

The 47-year-old beauty accessorised with a simple cuff bracelet and showed off her newly dyed tresses after going from blonde to a reddy-brown hue.
