Karl Lagerfeld to Launch Handbag Fashion

Karl Lagerfeld has signed a deal with Accessory Network Group to produce his own leather handbag range.

The designer will create a collection which will also include small leather goods and luggage but designs are yet to be finalised.

An ANG spokeswoman told WWD there will be an emphasis on luxury materials, hardware and "a high-tech" element.

The collection will launch for spring/summer 2008, with prices starting from £175 for the contemporary range and £500 for the premium.

Lagerfeld is famous for his collaborations with Chloe, Fendi and Chanel and launched his own labels in clothing and perfume in the early 80s.

The popular designer has also created stage costumes for the likes of Kylie and Madonna and his fans incude Mariah Carey and Claudia Schiffer.
